Meet our team:
Steve Tattersall – Proprietor

I have loved cars ever since I knew what one was. Toy cars were all I ever played with as a young child and building, crashing but mostly repairing Lego cars kept me amused for many, many years!
When I left University I bought my dream car after seeing two race past me on roads near my home. A 1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500, from Horsham in Essex.
I used to drive it all over the place including to Triumph Sports Six Club events in The Lake District and even to a world record attempt at the longest single make convoy in Holland. I still have that car. In fact it’s one of our current projects, being rebuilt after a long time in storage, as a fast road Spitfire. See How To Build A Fast Road Spitfire. It will never go on sale though!
In 2002 I decided to go racing and bought a race-ready classic Mini for the Mighty Mini championships. I thoroughly enjoyed two seasons until an almighty crash at Mallory Park in Leicestershire where I managed 7 1/2 rolls and completely destroyed my car.
I sold what was left to someone who wanted the race engine and gearbox as there was nothing else left to save. I still have the bent steering wheel but this is the car I should never have sold. A quick re-shell and it would have been back on the track in no time. Unfortunately my restoration skills were non-existent at the time. I’ll just have to build another one!
I’ve restored many classic cars over the years but it’s only fairly recently that I have been able to turn my passion into a business. Nowadays I spend my days doing what I pretended to do as a child, painting old cars, and I absolutely love it.
